What does the evidence say about the effectiveness of acupuncture?

A recently published review says that there are 117 conditions in which there is evidence for the effectiveness of acupuncture (see below). As you would expect, some conditions have stronger evidence then others. The review also found that acupuncture is safe in the hands of a well-trained practitioner and that acupuncture is cost effective for a number of conditions.

Pease note: all acupuncturists and Chinese medicine practitioners at the Australian Acupuncture Centre are well-trained. We are registered with AHPRA (the government body overseeing health professionals in Australia) and represent the gold standard in needling and Chinese herbal medicine therapies in this country. Our senior acupuncturist, Paul Mcleod has more than 22 years clinical experience in acupuncture and Chinese medicine and leads an enthusiastic team of highly trained health professionals.
